The current tenure of Himachal Pradesh legislative assembly will expire on 7th Jan 2018. As per the Election Commission of India notification Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh 2017 will be held on 9th November 2017 and the counting of votes scheduled for December 18.
Congress candidate Virbhadra Singh is the current CM of Himachal Pradesh. In 2012 Assembly Election Indian National Congress (INC) was contested on 68 seats and had won 36 seats with 42.81% vote share, BJP contested on 68 seats and won 26 seats with 38.47% vote share. Other small political party was contested but not able to won any seats. Congress is ruling in state since 2007.
