The current tenure of office of the President of India is upto 24th July, 2017. According to Election Commission of India notification, Election 2017 would be held on July 17, 2017 and results would be announced on 2oth July 2017.
The earlier president elections to this office were held in 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1969, 1974, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007 and 2012.
The President of India is elected by the Members of an Electoral College consisting of the elected members of both Upper Houses of Parliament and the elected members of the Legislative Assemblies of the States, including National Capital Territory of Delhi and the Union Territory of Puducherry .
The Fourteenth Presidential Election 2012 was expire on 24-07-2017 and Sh. Pranab Mukherjee was declared elected by the Returning Officer on 22nd July, 2012. Sh. Pranab Mukherjee was secured 7,13,763 votes and Sh. Purno Agitok Sangma was runner-up candidate with 3,15,987 votes.
